Gran Crema Espresso Beans [1.1 lb/500g]

I enjoy Italian profile espresso and wanted to give Miscela d'Oro a try. I was deciding between Gran Crema and Gran Gourmet and decided to get a bag of each (1.1lb/500g). I was disappointed to find that the Gran Crema beans I received (on Aug 26, 2025) were roasted 6 months ago (Feb 7, 2025). Before opening the bag, I emailed customer service who explained that the 1.1lb/500g bags don't sell as quick as the 2.2lb/1kg bags which is why the roast date was so long ago. As a reference, they indicated that the 2.2lb/1kg bags in inventory at the time were roasted 2 months ago (Jun 16, 2025). I was further disappointed upon opening the bag and not getting that fresh bean smell. They did not smell bad or spoiled... they smelled not fresh. I've pulled about a dozen shots and while not terrible, I won't be purchasing again. I'll give the Gran Gourmet a try but my expectations are low since those were roasted even longer ago - on Dec 12, 2024. If you decide to purchase the 1.1lb bag, I recommend first contacting customer service so they can advise on the roasting date - this is what they suggested to me as well.

I’ve tried so many espresso beans from many producers and this is my favorite, by far. Deep, rich, smooth and balanced flavors and excellent crema.
